Ashley Harmon
Event Consultant and Designer

Beginning her career in the floral industry started in the summer of 1998 for Ashley Harmon.  After attending classes in floral and plant design, flower shop management, and greenhouse management, Ashley knew that she had found her life’s calling.  Once graduating from high school, Ashley further pursued her education and talent levels at Stuppy’s School of Floral Design where she studied under the instructions of Bill Harper, AIFD, AAF, FAM.  After completing the basic design classes, Ashley moved on to more involved training for event and wedding design.  She knew she wanted to be a florist, but it wasn’t until the completion of the wedding design sessions that she knew she had found her niche within the industry.  Ashley’s first wedding was a success in the summer of 2000 and she began getting requests from local brides who had heard of her talents through word of mouth.  Ready to hit the ground running, Ashley started taking orders for small, local weddings just so she could be doing what she loved the most.  In order to stay educated on the latest trends and aspects of design, Ashley was employed through local flower shops as an everyday designer.  She did enjoy the surroundings of a busy flower shop, but she constantly craved the extra boost she received from working with brides or event managers while bringing their floral dreams into a reality.  She has completed over 100 weddings since she began her career as a florist and has executed many different themes and styles for local brides in Missouri.  Her custom approach to each bride is what sets her apart from your average florist.  With the given ability to focus on weddings and special events, Ashley has become a resource for brides when it comes to creating a personalized event that depicts the true style of her clients.  “Each client is unique and so are their tastes for design,” says Ashley.  “I’m not going to suggest tropical blooms to a bride-to-be if she exudes a vintage and feminine personal style.”  “It’s about collaborating with the client in order to produce the perfect shade of pink, or using the right accents in order to create a funky edge that will wow the guests and correctly follow through with the theme of the event.”

Often, Ashley creates one of a kind designs that are specific to the needs of her clients.  For example, Ashley has been offering the “break-away” toss bouquet (a modern take on a traditional bouquet toss) to her brides for almost 4 years now.  She was surprised to see the idea presented at a design show she attended in the summer of 2009.  Ashley would tell you that her inspiration comes from nature and the garden, “If I ever have a day when my creativity isn’t flowing like it should be…I just step barefoot into my garden and the ideas start to flow again!”, says Ashley. After 9 years spent perfecting her talents, Ashley knows that there is always something new to learn in this industry, so she also attends local and nationwide design seminars and conventions in order to produce the best product for her clients. A true passion for design and commitment to quality products is what will make your experience with Ashley stand out from all the rest!
